Torchlight Tours at the Appomattox Station Battlefield
Mark your calendars! Torchlight Tours at the Appomattox Station Battlefield!
The Civil War was nearly over in Virginia—yet on the evening of April 8th, 1865, the quiet Virginia countryside erupted in fire and thunder. At Appomattox Station, under a reddening sky, Federal cavalry clashed with stubborn Confederate artillery in a desperate struggle that would set the stage for the surrender at Appomattox Court House the very next day.
This October, you are invited to step into that fateful night. On Friday and Saturday, October 24th and 25th, from 6–8 PM, the Appomattox Station Battlefield will come alive under the glow of torches and the scent of woodsmoke. Your guide will lead you along the very ground where sabers flashed, shells screamed, and history teetered on the edge of its final chapter.
As you move through the shadows, living historians will share first-hand accounts—voices of soldiers and civilians who witnessed courage, heartbreak, and the bitter taste of both victory and defeat. You’ll hear the pounding of hooves in your mind, see the flash of artillery in the dark, and feel the tension of a nation on the brink of peace.
Tickets available at the gate. Join us for an unforgettable journey back to the night before the end.
