Independence Day Celebration
Celebrate Independence Day at the historic home of Virginia’s first governor, Patrick Henry’s Red Hill, known as the “garden spot of the world!” Bring your lawn chairs or blankets to settle in for a day of festivities, including delicious food from on-site vendors, face painting for kids, live music, and tours of Patrick Henry’s home, grave, and museum. The fun begins at 4:00 PM with activities like historic building tours, games, and shopping, followed by tours of Quarter Place at 4:30, 5:30, and 7:30 PM. At 8:00 PM, Patrick Henry’s fifth great-grandson, Patrick Henry Jolly, will deliver a stirring performance of “Give me liberty or give me death!” and read the Declaration of Independence. The gates close at 9:00 PM, and a spectacular fireworks display starts at 9:15 PM, wrapping up the evening by 9:30 PM. Tickets will be available closer to the event—don’t miss this unforgettable Fourth of July celebration!
