Appomattox1865 Foundation

The Appomattox 1865 Foundation will be assisting with the 160th Anniversary of the surrender of General Robert E. Lee to General Ulysses S. Grant on April 9, 1865. The Anniversary will have events at The Appomattox Court House National Historic Park from April 8 to April 13 2025. The Foundation and the Park are looking for volunteers to assist during the Anniversary especially on April 12. On April 12, 4600 luminaries will be placed throughout the Park to honor the 4600 enslaved people who were emancipated by the surrender on April 9 1865.
