250th Anniversary Celebration for Liberty Chapel Baptist Church

In 1775, a group of Baptist Believers met in the south western part of Buckingham County, Virginia in an area known as Maynard’s Corner and formed what is today known as Liberty Chapel Baptist Church. Under the leadership of Elder Gabriel Walker, who was a Baptist missionary to the Native Americans in the area, the church grew and flourished. On September 27th and 28th, 2025, we will be celebrating our 250th birthday and we invite you to join us in this celebration.

On Saturday, September 27th, from 10:00am until 4:00pm, we will have a day of fun and educational activities on the church grounds. We will have the Fincastle Company Militia encamped at the church, along with various historical speakers, such as Patrick Henry and Lord Dunmore, artisans demonstrating crafts of the 18th Century with some selling their products such as soap, pottery and honey, along with 18th Century games and toys. Food will also be available from Hoof and Feathers food truck, Baines Coffee and other local food vendors. Music will be provided throughout the day by Deeply Rooted and Fishers of Men. Check our website and Facebook page for regular updates.

On Sunday, September 28th, we will have a day of praise and worship thanking our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ for allowing us to be a light for Him in this community for 250 years. We will have Worship Service at 11:00am where we will recognize special guests, followed by lunch. Please plan to attend our service and worship with us.
