Appomattox Lions Club - "We Serve"
Description
Description
With 1.38 million members, Lions International is the world’s largest volunteer service organization. The Lions motto is "We Serve".
The Appomattox Chapter was formed in 1939 and currently serves the community by providing eyeglasses to individuals who qualify through Social Services, performing visual acuity testing on students at all of the community schools, collecting used eyeglasses and hearing aids for recycled usage, and supporting other civic efforts.
Club administration costs are borne by membership so that 100% of donated and project generated funds are applied to the service of others. Our club holds informal meetings on the second Thursday of each month beginning at 5:30 PM at the Railyard Restaurant. Non-members are welcomed to join us at meetings.
