Sweeney Summer Concert Series in the PARK! The Appomattox 1865 Foundation is sponsoring a FREE concert series at Appomattox Court House National Historical Park. Donations only NO TIX NEEDED! All proceeds will benefit the restoration of the SweeneyFamily cabin which is located on park grounds. The shows will take place on the front porch of the McLean House. Bring your chair or blanket and enjoy a variety of music. No alcohol and rain cancels. 6:30 till dusk. 4 different “acts”,who perform in a variety of musical styles,have volunteered to entertain us and help the FRIENDS OF THE PARK.
The first show features: ”The McKenzies” on THURSDAY, MAY 15.
Subsequent shows are as follows:
Saturday, June 14 Corbin Hayslett and Friends
Thursday, July 10 Riddle on the Harp
Thursday, August 14 Ken and Alli

Now in its 16th year, the 2014 Appomattox Cheerz season events are held on the third Friday each month from April through September, with the final event being held on the second Friday of October (to help kick-off the annual Railroad Festival Weekend) in downtown Abbitt Memorial Park from 5:30-9pm.
Events include live performances from local bands, adult beverages (beer & wine coolers are available - proper ID required to obtain a beer bracelet and/or beer tickets so please bring your ID), a 50/50 raffle, as well as a local non-profit organization selling drinks, delicious hot food & snacks.
Lawn chairs are always welcome, however, NO coolers or pets please. All children must be accompanied by an adult and must be supervised at all times.
Admission: $5.00 per person (ages 13 & older) -- children 12 & under are FREE!
NOTE: Schedule is subject to change. RAIN cancels events.

Held the second full weekend in October, this family-friendly festival commemorates the Norfolk & Western Railroad's donation of the Appomattox Depot to the Town of Appomattox in 1973. The two-day festival is held on Main Street and the surrounding downtown area. Festival highlights include a parade, arts & craft vendors, live bands, train exhibits, a fine art show, fireworks, food, and lots of activities for the entire family.
